Murphy Ireland launches Chartership Recognition Award

Murphy Ireland has launched a new Chartership Recognition Award, to acknowledge and support employees who pursue chartership accreditation.

The Chartership Recognition Award came into effect on 1 January 2021 and recognises Charterships with Engineers Ireland and Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES.)

Eamon McElduff, Managing Quantity Surveyor, who has just completed his chartership said:

“It was always a goal of mine to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) but I kept putting it off as the day job kept getting in the way. Through the Personal Development Plan programme, we were able to put in place a structure to achieve this goal, which gave emphasis to the importance of being chartered. Through the support of my mentor, Neil Carroll and Senior Management, along with Murphy’s commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD). I was able to achieve membership status in May 2021. This gives a competitive advantage to Murphy’s tender submissions, a quality assurance of my work and interaction with our stakeholders, and allows me to continue my personal development and career aspirations.”

Patrick Gilhooley, Project Manager, who has also just become chartered said:

“It was always a career aspiration of mine to become a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland, but I found it hard to prioritise the time with work commitments. With the support, guidance and feedback of my colleagues, mentor and senior management, who had all been through the process themselves, I was able to submit and achieve chartered status in January this year. In doing so, I have developed an understanding of the importance of engineers achieving this professional competency. I hope to use my experience to mentor and support other engineers working towards Chartered Engineer and continue my own professional development, as it is an important milestone in the career of any engineer.”

According to Kevin Buckley, Senior Contracts Manager and Engineering Manager:

“An Engineering Chartership demonstrates to Murphy and our clients that you have had your competence independently judged, your credentials verified, and have made a strong commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Murphy encourage all our Engineers to strive to become chartered and have demonstrated our commitment to our Engineers by becoming a CPD Accredited Employer.”
