Supporting local communities on an international scale
We are focused on creating a long-term sustainable contribution and leaving a positive legacy in all the communities in which we work.
Across the UK, Ireland, Canada and the USA our network of social value champions actively engage with colleagues and community leaders to identify and support worthy causes.
The wide variety of activities they carry out vary in nature but all link back to our core purpose of improving life.
Giving Back Days are two paid days available each year to all Murphy employees to help them support a community organisation, school or charity of their choice.
In 2025 our teams collectively spent over 6,400 hours volunteering at causes important to them.
Activities included building playgrounds for local school children, cleaning canals, planting forests and supporting teams at food banks and animal rescue centres.
In 2025 we were proud to have provided financial support totalling in excess of £415k to charitable causes during the year.
In addition, colleagues across the business delivered over 3,000 hours worth of community skills, employment and STEM events. Ensuring the future of STEM recruitment is vital for the construction industry and our teams are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of engineering experts.
We are committed to local job creation and providing lasting careers for people in the communities where we work. In 2025, 401 of our new employment opportunities were filled by local people living within a 30-mile radius of their work location. Additionally we created a £6m social value contribution through local employment initiatives.
Further to this, work began on a £40 million One Murphy Hub at our depot in Golborne, Greater Manchester. This will be followed by an additional £40 million training facility at our plant depot in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire. Together, these will help the local communities by investing in skills and boosting employment.
