Dublin Port Company appointed Murphy to carry out the site clearance, preparation and redevelopment of the existing port lands at Storecon Yard.
The site, located between Tolka Quay Road and Promenade Road in Dublin, required redevelopment in order to provide additional storage space for Dublin Port tenants. The works at Storecon Yard were carried out over a five month period in 2015 over the 32,000m² site. The project team consisted of the Dublin Port Company management team, DBFL engineering consultants, our site team and a local concrete supplier. The work included the installation of 30 metre high mast lighting.
Installing the high mast lighting, while all other construction activities continued, meant managing space well in order to meet the programme of works. The key to overcoming this challenge was strong collaboration with the many stakeholders on the project. We worked with the client in order to cause minimum disruption to activities. The project was completed on time and on budget.
We were responsible for the groundworks, which involved installing 300mm fibre reinforced concrete slabs, removing made ground for the construction of concrete bases and HD bold assemblies for the mast lighting. We also:
The high mast lighting reduced power consumption on site by over 84%, as the old lighting used 2,135 kWh and the new only 325 kWh. The proactive attitude and positive contributions by all the team was a perfect example of project teamwork, and contributed to the successful delivery of the project on time.
