Driving consistency, safety performance and the highest standards of quality throughout every phase of delivery. Murphy is delivering a major upgrade at Severn Trent Water’s flagship Minworth Wastewater Treatment Works, increasing storm resilience, and supporting improved environmental performance. The project has successfully reinstated six storm storage tanks, providing an additional 32,000m³ of capacity and reducing environmental impact. Delivered in February 2026, Phase 1 of the works was undertaken within a fully operational treatment facility, requiring: Removal of 50-year-old infrastructure within confined underground pipe galleries Demolition of existing culverts and extraction of pipework up to 850mm diameter Construction and installation of new culverts, integrating the refurbished tanks with the live storage system Construction of access ramps within the tanks to facilitate cleaning operations Integration of new systems with legacy assets Phase 2 of the works is ongoing and is scheduled for completion in February 2027. These works include: Installation of new rising mains (underground, buried, and overland) Delivery of structural steelwork, including access platforms and support systems MEICA installations Murphy’s proven self-delivery capability spans both permanent and temporary works design, alongside pipeline pressure testing, MEICA installation, and the fabrication and installation of structural steelwork, providing end-to-end control across all critical project activities. This integrated approach drives consistency, enhances safety performance, and ensures the highest standards of quality throughout every phase of delivery. Murphy’s performance in health, safety, environment, and quality was recognised by Severn Trent Water through the award of an Integrated Assurance Award, highlighting a commitment to delivering world class infrastructure.
