Overbridge 10 is a three span bridge carrying the A530 Middlewich Road over the two railway tracks of Chester to Crewe (CNH1) line on the outskirts of Crewe. The road over the bridge comprises a single carriageway with grass verges on both sides. Murphy was contracted to demolish the existing three span road and service bridges, piers and abutments and install a new single span bridge deck supported
on a new substructure.
The new road bridge (Overbridge 10) comprised new in-situ concrete abutments on piled foundations, pre-cast, pre-stressed bridge beams with an in-situ RC slab deck. The service bridge (Overbridge 10A) comprises pre-cast, pre-stressed ‘’U’’ beams with a pre-cast RC slab deck. The span between bearings of both bridges is 12m.
