Based on our concerted efforts to be a ‘greener Murphy’

Following our double Green World Environment Award win earlier this year, Murphy has again been recognised by The Green Organisation who have awarded our Plant team with an Ambassador Award at the recent International CSR Excellence & Green World Ambassador Awards.

The International CSR Excellence Awards are presented to companies that have a heart: caring companies that use their privileged position to help their colleagues, communities, customers, the environment and the less fortunate.

Murphy’s recognition is based on our concerted efforts to be a ‘greener Murphy’ that leaves a positive impact on the communities and environments we work in. Key milestones that have led to our ambassador status include:

  • Our Plant team’s Green World Champion Award recognising their ongoing sustainability initiatives.
  • Our Uxbridge Moor project team’s Building & Construction – Sustainability award for their early and practical adoption of hydrogen power.
  • Our 57% total reduction in carbon emissions over the last five years.
  • Meeting our ‘Murphy at 75’ commitment to plant 5,000 trees every year, including one for every new starter.
  • Investing more than £137m in state-of-the-art plant and equipment to power our projects over the last five years.
  • Achieving 100% renewable energy supply for our UK business, with the same transition underway in all our other geographies.
  • Our work to make the Lower Thames Crossing a nationally significant carbon Pathfinder project, aiming to set new standards for low‑carbon construction with 1005 electric and hydrogen powered plant by 2027.

All of the above contribute to our ‘A greener Murphy’ roadmap to net zero: a long‑term commitment to sustainability, legacy and responsibility. It focuses our actions and reflects the expectations of our customers, people and the generations to come.

You can find more information on our sustainability initiatives on our ESG pages or in our latest annual report.
