I work at Surerus Murphy Joint Venture (SMJV) in Canada. My role is front desk reception, looking after travel, business operations (dealing with vendors, maintenance, etc.) and generally anything to make the office and business run as smooth as possible. I work closely senior management to help the executive leadership team and make sure they can steer the business in the right direction.
Email checking, booking travel and making sure the office is neat and tidy for everyone so when they arrive to work, they can mess it up straight away. I am always chasing approval for a variety of things which keeps me busy. And whatever anybody else needs…. so my days are busy, which I enjoy.
The people. Interacting with everyone at the front desk is something I love. I love business operations and I feel satisfied when the office runs smoothly. The variety is something else I enjoy and also how people can come up with anything out of the blue that is needed urgently. The pace of the job constantly keeps me on my toes too, you never know what somebody will need. Coming from the client side to the construction side has been awesome, a lot more interesting and people want to get things done.
I have been a contractor for the past eight years and to finally be a part of a company with our culture and drive to be the best is just amazing. Business operations is fun and always changing, I get to deal with awesome people daily, (the people here are the best) no two days are the same and I’m learning a lot! Really, I can’t picture a better company to be a part of where I can grow and further my career. With so much work ahead it’s only upwards and onwards! I love the work that I do and the people that I do it with.
