What do you do at Murphy?

As part of my two year graduate programme at Murphy, my current rotations are in ‘Infrastructure, South’. I am working on the LOCROS project (Crossrail scheme) to provide step-free access at Hanwell, Langley, Iver and Taplow station.

I provide commercial support to my team, which includes subcontract application assessments, project cost control, payment support, measurement of quantities and such. The project team at LOCROS is certainly an interesting bunch!

What do you find most interesting about your role?

I previously worked as summer placement quantity surveyor in Malaysia and for the Murphy Construction and Property team. Each experience at Murphy has been fundamentally different, as each project is unique, and the people involved are also different. I am constantly learning new things every day. I am curious and absolutely looking forward to how much I can grow by the end of my graduate programme.

What are your career aspirations?

I am working towards RICS to become a chartered quantity surveyor. Apart from the support we have from Murphy, few of us graduates meet up once every two weeks to catch up with our progress. These sessions are a good way for me to keep on track with my goal and become chartered in three to five years’ time.
