I joined Murphy in June 2019, working on the Network Rail CP6 Framework in the Transportation (Rail) sector. My current role involves leading and managing design organisations in the design delivery of multidisciplinary railway projects ranging from Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) structure replacements, station building refurbishments and new station enhancements. I also line manage and mentor staff members within the business.

Why did you choose to take on an Apprenticeship at Murphy?
This is the first Leadership Development Apprenticeship at Murphy, and it is a great opportunity because it aligns with my career aspirations to progress into senior leadership by building on my existing management and leadership skills whilst gaining a holistic understanding of business. I will have opportunities at Murphy to use the tools and techniques as part of the apprenticeship and implement them within the business.
What has your highlight been so far?

I started the Leadership Development Apprenticeship in January this year and my highlight so far has been working with a diverse cohort from different organisations and sectors, which provides different industry examples and experiences to be shared on the programme.

What support do you get from Murphy?

My manager has been supportive by ensuring that my project work commitments are balanced with the demands of the apprenticeship and aligning my development plan, and objectives so that I can gain the experience I need to successfully complete the apprenticeship.

What are you most looking forward to once you complete your apprenticeship?

I am looking forward to applying the tools and techniques in a senior leadership role, promoting the benefits of an apprenticeship, and mentoring other aspiring or emerging leaders.
