My name is Bryan Kong and I am a third year Apprentice Civil Engineer, completing my degree at the University of Warwick.
I chose to pursue an apprenticeship because of the balance of work and education. It allows me to develop my theoretical skills and knowledge while at University and then apply the knowledge I’ve learnt in class on site. This enables me to get a good understanding of constructability and apply what I am taught in lectures.
I enjoy getting out on site and developing my setting out skills as an engineer and seeing the project progress – gaining a real sense of fulfilment.
As a Murphy apprentice you have many opportunities to work in different sectors, gain site experience and design experience. I have been involved in drainage, gas and rail throughout my apprenticeship already.
