Team is working six metres below ground in tight, restricted space

Our project team at Minworth is currently reinstating six redundant tanks to boost storm capacity for Severn Trent — and a major part of this work involves removing 50 year old pipework from the pipe galleries, including some huge 850mm cast iron sections.

The challenge hasn’t been small, with the team working six metres below ground in tight, restricted space with poor lighting and difficult access. In addition, they’ve worked around lifting constraints, unknown pipe conditions and the hazardous atmospheres inside the pipes.

Despite all this, the team has come together brilliantly with our supply chain partners. Through smart temporary works solutions, carefully selected equipment, and an innovative cutting method that avoids hot works in confined spaces, the complex operation is running safely and efficiently.

A fantastic achievement by everyone involved — truly living our Always Deliver value.
