Project Outline

Located on the Great Eastern Main Line between London Liverpool Street and Ipswich, Beaulieu Park Station is the first station to be built on the line in over 100 years.

Construction began in March 2023 with completion expected in 2026 – however good progress meant the station opened early in October 2025.

Acting as the Principal Contractor for Network Rail, our scope of work included a new three-platform station; the station building with larch glulam roof; an Access For All footbridge (integral to station building); parking for 705 vehicles across two car parks; a bus interchange, taxi rank, cycle storage and approximately 100,000m3 of earthworks.

During the project, our team installed:

  • Eight new point ends, comprising of two turnouts and three crossovers
  • 5,156m of new rail and 1,768m re-used rail
  • 2,390 new sleepers and 2,950 re-used sleepers
  • 14 new signals and six new signal heads
  • 36.5km of new overhead wire along with OLE structures
  • Over 1,000,000 paving blocks by hand – enough to fill nine Olympic swimming pools
  • 158 CCTV cameras

Located on the doorstep of what will become a community of 10,000 new homes, the station’s completion means that passengers can now travel from north Chelmsford to London Liverpool Street in 40 minutes and to Colchester in 25 minutes.
