The Project

As part of the on-going investment in the East Anglia region, Murphy is a delivery partner on the new 60km onshore HVDC cable route connection from landfall at Happisburgh to Necton substation. The connection is part of the wider Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone being built by developer Vattenfall located more than 47km from the Norfolk coast. With an installed capacity of 4.2GW, the Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone will produce the equivalent to the annual electricity needs of around 4.6 million households by the late 2020s, approximately 10% of UK domestic demand. The project will help to cement and maintain East Anglia as a UK renewable energy powerhouse and put the region at the heart of our national transition to a low carbon economy, while supporting hundreds of local jobs and continuing to sponsor local and regional skills initiatives. The project is now in the early stages of mobilisation with main construction running between September 2023 and mid 2028.
