Murphy join the parade at Birmingham Pride

Murphy's LBGT+ network recently took part in a Pride procession through the streets of Birmingham.

30 people from across Murphy and InterEngineering – a community group focused on LGBT within the engineering and construction sector - took part in the parade which saw the attendees ride around the streets of Birmingham on the back of a Murphy plant provided HGV.

Murphy employees were proudly the only construction and engineering firm which took part in the parade, something Amy Foster, emerging talent manager said is a significant achievement:

"The event was a great success and it was brilliant to have so many people turn up and celebrate pride in Birmingham. Overall it was a really positive experience and it was great to see members of the public interact with us in a different way, and hear such positive comments about Murphy taking part in the parade and supporting the LGBT community.

Our LBGT network at Murphy has been extremely well received and we are getting great support from around the business. We were also the only construction industry company to take part in the event which shows we are completely committed to an inclusive culture here at Murphy."

The LGBT network would also like to thank plant drivers Frank Lally and Donald Thomas who volunteered their time to drive the HGV along the pride route.
