Delivering the longest twin road tunnels in the UK Early works are now officially underway at Lower Thames Crossing, where Murphy is working in joint venture with Bouygues Travaux Publics UK as BMJV to deliver the design and construction of the twin road tunnels under the River Thames, which at 2.6 miles will be the longest in the UK.BMJV was awarded the Tunnels and Approaches contract for Lower Thames Crossing, focusing on carbon reduction, value for money and building a local workforce and supply chain. Before major construction and tunnelling begins in 2028, works will be carried out to protect the area’s habitat including utility supplies, heritage and wildlife.
