In honour of International Women's Day on 8 March 2021, we caught up with our Social Value Co-ordinator Megan Prigmore, to find out more about her role and how she will #ChooseToChallenge this IWD2021.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m responsible for delivering social value on London Power Tunnels 2 and Oxford Street District, giving back to the communities impacted by our construction works through employment, education, and volunteering initiatives.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
My job is very rewarding; working with students through education or offering employment opportunities to people who may normally face barriers and seeing them go far in the industry is very inspiring.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE?
I choose to challenge the percentage of girls choosing STEM subjects at school by arranging and delivering meaningful school engagements to encourage more women into the industry.

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY?
I loved the idea of being part of something much bigger than just my role. I really enjoy seeing a project come together and knowing I have been part of that.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
Professional - For the last two years I have been awarded a certificate by STEM Learning for personally delivering over 50 hours of engagement, I was particularly proud to get this in 2020 during the pandemic.  Personal – I completed the London Marathon in 2017.
