Chris started his career in 1992 as a trainee site engineer for Amec civil engineering. During a 10 year period, Chris completed his education part-time whilst progressing to site Agent. During this time he worked on large civil engineering schemes such as Jubilee Line Extension contract 102, Manchester Airport Runway 2, 12 Quays Ro-Ro Ferry terminal, M6 Widening and A34 Bypass.

After 10 years’ service at Amec, Chris accepted a role as Site Agent at Bam Nuttall, during a 2 year period he was responsible for the construction of a new reservoir, widening of the M6 Junction 20 and the construction of a new canal basin and bascule bridge in Manchester.

In October 2004 after 12 years working within Tier 1 contractors, Chris decided to join an NW based SME as Project Manager. Throughout an 8 year career Chris progressed to the role of Operations Director. During this period he tendered and delivered works in the Nuclear, Building, water and civil sectors, with contract values ranging from £200k to £6m.

Chris Joined J. Murphy & Sons in 2012 as Senior Project Manager working within the NW civils department and the Electricity Alliance North as Contracts Manager. After 2 years he left Murphy’s to undertake a 6 month freelance Contracts manager’s role on a new bridge scheme at Manchester Airport. Chris then returned to Murphy’s as a Contracts Manager in 2015 on the CP5 Rail Framework. In April 2016 he was promoted to Senior Programme Manager responsible for the delivery of rail enhancement projects, and In June 2018 Chris was promoted to Operations Director for the M2 Business Unit. Chris was promoted in Jan 21 to MD of the M1 Transportation Renewals business and in January 22 took over the full Transportation Business as MD for Murphy.
