What do you do at Murphy?

I work for Murphy Process Engineering Limited, assisting the project management team to plan, procure, resource and execute our projects on time, on cost and on quality. I am based at our Citywest office, only a 45-minute journey from Dublin City Centre.

What do you like best about your job?

I enjoy applying lessons learned from previous experience, working with very clever people and encouraging graduate engineers to find their voice.

8:30am-10am - This part of the day generally involves standing at my desk. Firstly, it is all about workflow. I log into our D365 financial accounting system and clear any task items. Secondly, I review, prioritise and respond to project related emails.

10am - Time for some fresh fruit and a cup of camomile tea to improve energy and focus.

10-1pm - This part of the day generally involves meetings, phone calls and goal prioritisation.

1-2pm - It is time to unplug, so I leave my mobile phone at my desk and join colleagues in our canteen to enjoy a homemade plant based whole food meal. After my meal I take a leisurely 45-minute walk around the picturesque Riverwalk.

2-4pm - This part of the day generally involves sitting at my desk drafting plans, proposals and report writing.

4pm - Time for a quick break, some mixed nuts and a cup of green tea.

4-5pm - Review workflow and address emails and correspondence. This daily routine is broken up once a week, when I attend our construction sites to review the planned works with our site teams.

Evenings - I am a lifelong learner and just love being active, so it is great to have an employer willing to promote my continued professional development and my health and wellbeing that currently includes:

  • A 12-month certificate in Water Management.
  • A 12-week preventative health program.
  • A new bicycle on the Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Finalising the piping and cabling links from the reactors.
