Having worked in Procurement and Supply Chain in Construction/Infrastructure for over 30 years, Ian joined Murphy at the beginning of November 2017. He achieved Fellowship status with CIPS in 2017 and in his spare time is Chairman of Blackburn RUFC.
After 12 years in the industry and previous roles at Carillion, Laing O’Rourke and Balfour Beatty, Ben joined J. Murphy & Sons in January 2017 as a procurement manager looking after category management and the centralised materials team. Ben was promoted to Head of Central Procurement in early 2018 reporting to Ian Holcroft with responsibility for the Group Central Procurement and the specialist businesses. This role encompasses systems, supplier relationship management, category management and the overall group procurement strategy.
Jason has been working in Procurement for 25 years and in that time has led the Procurement function at J. Murphy & Sons for 13 years. Since his time at Murphy began, Jason has worked across the UK, Ireland and Canada in the Power, Rail, Civils, Oil & Gas and Water Sectors. Key projects that Jason has led the procurement function in are: Electricity Alliance for National Grid and KMI Water / KMI+ for United Utilities.
Paul has a wealth of experience in construction procurement working with both Contractors and Developers since the late 1980’s. He achieved his MCIPS qualification at United House (now United Living).
Paul then joined J. Murphy & Sons in November 2018 and has since set up the M5 business Subcontractor Supply Chain Matrix which contains a focused set of “Key” Preferred and Approved Trade Contractors, who are regularly performance checked, reviewed and invited to give feedback on Murphy. He oversees operational delivery from the Procurement Team who in turn work closely with the M5 Commercial Function.
James has worked in Procurement for over 20 years within the Construction industry and, more specifically, heavy civil engineering projects. Prior to joining J. Murphy and Sons in 2016 James had spent 5 years with Volker Fitzpatrick and previously 14 years with Laing Civil Engineering, later to become Laing O’Rourke Infrastructure. Having worked on several major projects including the Second Severn Crossing, Millennium Stadium and Heathrow Terminal 5, James’ experience lends itself perfectly to his current role as the Procurement Lead for the London Power Tunnels 2 scheme in joint venture with Hochtief UK.
Suzanne is the Senior Procurement Manager for our M4 Energy Business Unit and is based in Stonecross. The M4 Energy division delivers projects across the power, oil & gas pipelines and marine sectors. She has been with J. Murphy & Sons for just over 3 years and has nearly 20 years’ experience in a range of dedicated procurement and supply chain roles. Suzanne manages a team of procurement professionals across the Stonecross, Leeds and Kentish Town offices.
For the past 11 years Matt has undertaken several Procurement and Supply Chain roles within the construction industry, this was hugely facilitated by his participation between 2007 - 2010 in an integrated and collaborative course of academic study with Severn Trent water and the Supply Chain. This experience also allowed Matt to achieve CIPS accreditation in 2012.
Matt recently joined Murphy this year as our Senior Procurement Manager for our M3 Water Division.
Matt has over 20 years mixed construction and infrastructure experience and has worked across 3 continents. Originally commencing his career as a QS working up to Commercial Manager Level, he then made the decision in 2009 to focus on procurement.
Matt has worked at J. Murphy & Sons for over 2 years and is our Senior Procurement Manager. He is responsible for procurement within the National Transport Business (Merged M1 & M2). He originally joined the business to work for the Central Procurement team focusing solely on our subcontract activities for group as was his background, when an operational opportunity arose in M2.
Cathal has over 30 years experience in the business with J. Murphy & Sons, having worked across the UK, South Africa and Ireland. He started his career in London as a Trainee Cost Accountant prior to operating at various levels within the Natural Resources, Water and Wastewater, and Civils sectors. At Murphy International Cathal played an integral part in the introduction of the Central Procurement Function to the business in Ireland. He currently leads the Procurement Function servicing the Civils, Structural Steel, Pipe fabrications, Water, Piling & Processing divisions.
