Matt has over 25 years mixed construction and infrastructure experience, gained within the commercial, transportation and defence sectors.
He has worked at J. Murphy & Sons for over 5 years and is our Head of Procurement for Transportation.
Having commenced his career as a QS, transitioning to procurement in 2009, Matt understands the importance of a successful pre construction phase, the relationships that we form with our supply chain, also our early and clear engagement will dictate whether our schemes will be deemed a success or failure.
James joined J. Murphy & Sons as an Assistant Buyer after graduating from University in 2012. Since then, he has witnessed the successful transformation of both the business and procurement function to what it is today. Throughout this period, James has developed his professional experience and now leads the CP6 Anglia Framework.
Ben joined J. Murphy & Sons as a Senior Buyer in 2019 and leads the CP6 North West & Central Framework within the M2 Transportation sector. Ben has a Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying and over 15 years' industry experience having worked on numerous construction projects in Aviation, Infrastructure, Higher Education and Retail for both public and private sector clients. During Ben’s two years at Murphy he has worked across several exciting infrastructure projects delivering the subcontract procurement.
Reece joined Murphy in July 2018 having previously worked in the Engineering sector for JLR and British Steel. Currently Reece leads the material procurement for the rail sector - a rapidly growing area that offers exciting opportunities to develop and refine procurement processes. Reece has recently completed his Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
Louise has over 14 years' mixed experience within construction and infrastructure. Prior to working at Murphy Louise supported the UK’s infrastructure, moving into Civil Engineering, Groundworks and the Nuclear/Energy sector where she gained further knowledge.
Louise currently works in the M2 Transportation business unit focusing on the rail sector and procuring the subcontract packages whilst also studying for her CIPS qualification.
Patrick joined Murphy in 2018 as part of the graduate programme, predominantly working in M5 Construction & Property, and more recently in the M2 Transportation sector. Over the past two years he has been delivering subcontract procurement on the CP6 Anglia Framework, for a range of schemes across the Structures, Earthworks, Buildings and E&P disciplines. Patrick has also recently achieved MCIPS accreditation.
The Graduate programme has allowed Patrick to experience procurement activities across a diverse range of projects, and the opportunity to complete MCIPS qualifications has proved to be hugely beneficial in his current role.
Amy has worked at Murphy for just over two years as a subcontract Buyer in the transport sector. Amy previously worked in the North West and Central team focusing on the Earthworks portfolio until recently when she joined the CP6 Anglia Framework.
Jack has 8 years mixed construction experience. He joined J Murphy & Sons in 2019, starting out in the M4 business unit material buying and also helping out with the subcontract side when required. In December 2020 he moved across to M2 LME material buying for HS2 and most recently has been tasked with the material buying for the East West Rail project.
Jack started his career within the hire industry before moving across to procurement. He is currently a member of the PDG.
Sue joined Murphy over five years ago starting in a commercial finance role within the utilities department in Cannock. Sue has been working as an Assistant Buyer for over two years on the materials and subcontract side of procurement working on various projects within M2 Transportation. For the last 12 months Sue has focused predominantly on leading the Civil Asset Management Rail Reactive Emergency Work Frameworks for North, South, Anglia and Kent.
After graduating in 2019 Luke Spent a year in the Whisky industry before joining Murphy’s as part of the graduate Cohort in 2020. For the past year he has been working as a project buyer on the Transpennine Route upgrade based out of York. The Project has allowed Luke to develop professionally within procurement though the many exciting opportunities that the job offers.
The Graduate program has allowed Luke to rotate around different parts of Murphy’s overall procurement function and has given him the platform to develop by being part of several teams, which has involved material buying for the M1 transportation team, focusing mainly on earthworks and being entrusted with Murphy Utilities and also gaining an in-depth knowledge of the strategic side of the business in the Central Procurement Team.
