Murphy has been appointed by Fingal County Council to deliver the €21 million R132 Connectivity Project in Swords, a major transport infrastructure scheme funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) that will enhance connectivity, improve safety and support the future growth of the town. The contract was formally signed at County Hall, marking the beginning of a transformative project that will strengthen east-west links across Swords while creating safer and more accessible facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. The project will be delivered over approximately 25 months in four phases along a 3km stretch of the R132, from the Bostik junction to the edge of the Pinnock Hill roundabout. The first phase, expected to take six months, will see the Estuary Roundabout replaced with a safer four-arm signalised junction. Once complete, the scheme will transform the character of the R132 into a high-capacity urban street, improving accessibility for all road users and supporting the delivery of future transport initiatives including the Swords Main Street Transformation, BusConnects and MetroLink. Over the next two decades, the population of Swords is projected to double, creating increased demand for sustainable transport infrastructure and improved connectivity.
