Project Outline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The core objective of the Hinckley to Hartshill Transfer Pipeline was to reduce reliance on the Hinckley Sewage Treatment Works (STW) and create a more robust infrastructure for the future. In addition to increasing capacity for the wider network the project also aimed to reduce sewer flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of the project the team constructed two pumping stations, 35 manholes and eight crossings along 10.21km route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community engagement was key part of the project. Local Hinckley school pupils were invited to witness the unveiling of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) which been named after Hinckley resident and renowned mathematician \u2018Ada Lovelace\u2019. The TBM was decorated with graphics depicting the impacts of Lovelace\u2019s work and greater legacy, as chosen by the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
