Murphy first past the post at CECA Awards

Curragh racecourse was one of three Murphy International Ltd projects recognised for excellence at the annual Civil Engineering Contractors Association award ceremony on the 21st September.

At the award ceremony, held in Dublin, Murphy was awarded joint first place in the ‘best health and safety initiative’ category, second place in the ‘best project (€2 - €5 million)’ category and was highly commended in the ‘best project (under €2 million)’ category.

John G Murphy, managing director of Murphy International, said: “It was a source of great pride to receive joint first place in the ‘best health and safety initiative’ category. We came up against stiff opposition from eminent industry peers and so a big thank you has to go to all our staff whose hard work saw us receive such high recognition. It was great to see so many Murphy entries shortlisted for awards and praised by the judges - all of whom are respected leaders in the Irish construction industry.”

The team collecting the ‘best health and safety initiative’ award did so due to the proactive measures they had taken to manage and mitigate the impact of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) on all sites.

The Waterford Public Realm Works (Apple Market) contract was awarded second place in the €2 - €5 million category, whilst the Queen’s Room contract at Curragh Racecourse was highly commended in the under €2 million category.

John G Murphy accepted the awards on behalf of Murphy on the night with a number of his Murphy colleagues in attendance to celebrate the achievement.
