Fabrication

Our fabrication facilities enable us to save time and improve efficiencies for our clients

Unlike many of our competitors, at Murphy we have our own fabrication facilities, which allow us to create our own structures off-site for use in our own work but also to supply to other companies.

Our modern fabrication facilities in Ireland, which has controlled testing areas, mean we can support a wide range of safety critical projects using advanced welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.

We use overhead cranes (CE certified to execution class 4 in our workshops) to enable steel and pipe fabrication, and boast a full range of welding and automatic cutting capabilities. Structures are prefabricated off-site meaning that the amount of time taken to construct units is reduced and clients’ expectations are met quickly.

We fabricate pipework, skid units and specialist structures in accordance with industry specifications and recognised codes. We are certified to ISO 8384-2:2005, which defines comprehensive quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials.

Our track record includes experience in fabricating and installing pipework for clients in the oil, gas and chemical industries. Our specialisms include cryogenic lines, process pipework in oil and gas terminals, loading jetties and fuel hydrants in airports and military bases.

Examples include:

  • Pipework for process and industrial application and for above ground installations (AGIs)
  • Skid units
  • Cryogenic pipework including stainless steel pipes for liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants
  • Pre-fabricated units for gas terminals and process plants
  • Refuelling hydrants
  • Storage tanks, tank seals, covers and roofs
  • Fabrication of steel frameworks.
