Opportunities for Local Businesses Explored at Triton Knoll ‘Local Supplier Day’

Recently Lincolnshire businesses were invited to Boston College to meet the two contractors responsible for constructing the onshore electrical systems for what will be the region’s biggest windfarm.

The event gave suppliers the opportunity to talk to team members from J Murphy & Sons Ltd and Siemens Transmission & Distribution Ltd and find out more about possible work opportunities coming up on the project.

Kate Russell from KWR Plant Hire, who attended the day said: “I thought the event was well put together as a whole with an excellent venue and very well organised. It was a great opportunity to network - not solely for the Triton Knoll project but for other leads too! Take me meeting Murphy for example who are clearly hoping to prioritise local (Lincolnshire) based companies when awarding the work! The added touches with the Lincolnshire business enterprise etc was a good call too. I had a few cards passed on by local companies that we didn’t know existed but handy to know”

This was the first event of many that will be organised by Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm, Murphy and Siemens in partnership with the Lincolnshire Growth Hub. The events will be specifically targeted at local businesses and focus on the activities immediately required by each of the top tier contractors.

Tracey Clark from On Loan Recruitment, also in attendance said: “The event was very well organised and I was impressed with the turnout of all the different companies from accommodation to recruitment.  It was a very informative event and the chance to speak with Murphy and Siemens was good, hopefully this will be good for all companies involved”

Murphy senior subcontract buyer Lukasz Olszewski said: “It was a very encouraging event and we are now exploring a number of leads with local companies to support the onshore works at Triton Knoll. We are looking forward to engaging more with local suppliers in the future.”

There will be more supply chain events in the coming months as the project progresses into construction onshore and offshore.
